Second Report from the AJ-KI Consolidation Committee The AJ-KI Consolidation Committee was formed to develop
a plan for the consolidation of The Committee continues to meet every Wednesday with
subcommittees meeting regularly and reporting back to the main Committee. The staffs of both congregations were able to adjust
schedules and have the mid-month newsletters mailed on the same day. Yashar Koach to them. They have also deftly
fielded many requests for information from our subcommittees. Development of the final report will be based on
certain joint assumptions agreed upon by the boards of each congregation.
Those assumptions include that (a) the board of trustees and major committees
of the new entity will be made up of equal numbers of congregants from both
shuls, (b) Rabbi Slosberg and Cantor Lipp will retain their present
positions, and (c) there will be a new name for the new shul. At this point in time the plans to renovate the AJ
building have been put on hold and KI is proceeding with its plans to hire an
interim Rabbi and an interim Cantor for a period of up to one year.
Regardless of any long term decisions about consolidation, there will be no
changes in the preschools through the 2008-09 school year. The
Internet address of the Consolidation Committee website is: http://sharon2103.home.insightbb.com/ . Sharon Weissbach and Robert Sachs, Joint Facilitators
